All in all, I think that the Mayfair guys were the unsung heroes of the
show. I mean, they also risked their lives running codes, and they were
always willing to help the Paramedics. Does anyone know is Mayfair is still
around?

I saw an old newspaper add from 1974 saying that Mayfair had purchased a nother ambulance company and promissed to honor membership of the other company and encouraged others not members to join, this was in pencilvainia, so i must conclude that they did exist at one point in one place if not currently or in LA.

The Mayfair ambulance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was a neighborhood ambulance service that solicited memberships from the community. They like other struggling community ambulance services took over services that failed in surrounding areas. Most of them faded out as more paid services grew throughout the area.
The mayfair ambulance in the Emergency series was fictitious and consequently not connected with the services in Philly.
